Virgilene Harvel-Thomas (Virgie), passed away peacefully at home with family on May 12th, 2024. She was Born on December 4th, 1942, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the daughter of Virgil and Gussie Johnson. At the tender age of 2, Virgie and her family moved to Oakland, California where she and her younger sister, Jacqueline Ridgell were raised. Virgie graduated from Oakland Technical High School in 1960. She was also a member and served as an usher at Unity Community Christian Southern Baptist Church of Stockton. Virgie devoted herself to her family. She is survived by her loving children, Lori Williams, Keith Harvel, and their families. This includes her cherished grandchildren: Aaron Paul Jr., Anthony Paul, Ashia Williams, Marc Harvel, Jacquelene Harvel-D'Anna, Jazmine Harvel, and her great-granddaughter, Salia Nova D'Anna. She also leaves behind beloved daughter-in-law Silvia Harvel. In 1988, Virgie found love again with her husband Jim Thomas. Together, they blended their families, and Virgie embraced his children: Kevin Thomas, Quinton Thomas, Vincent Thomas, and Duwan Thomas. Virgie's warmth extended beyond her immediate family. She leaves a legacy of love with a host of family, relatives, friends, neighbors and caretakers. Virgie's faith in Jesus Christ was a cornerstone of her life. She possessed a strong moral compass and a genuine love for people. Her kindness and compassion will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
