Rubin “Duby” Guerra of Stockton, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025 at the age of 53
with his Family members at his side.

Born on September 29. 1971 in Riverside, Ca. Rubin lived a life of love for his family and his
music. Rubin is survived by his Wife Allison, children Emelia and Maddie Guerra, stepchildren
Joshua and Hailey Hepperle. He leaves behind his parents Rubin Guerra Sr. (Sandy) and Barbara
Guardado (Sidney) ; his Sisters, DeAna Ormberg (Ryan), Shelly Guerra (Jon), Maria Guardado
(Susan), Lesley Hinton and Goddaughter Bella-Row Hinton as well as several Nieces, Nephews,
Aunts, Uncles, numerous Cousins and cherished friends.

Rubin began his career with the California Department of Corrections in 1998, promoting to
Correctional Sergeant in 2007 and was assigned to the Correctional Training Facility as a
Training Instructor until his retirement in 2020. Rubin served the Department with great pride
and deep passion for his chosen profession.

When not “on duty”, Duby enjoyed his music. He would often jam with his Family at gatherings
and enjoyed joining his friends whenever he could to play the guitar. He was a founding member
of the Surrogate Brains and most recently with the band, Volume Freak. Duby and his band
mates will always have 924 Gilman St. as the stage for their unique sound. His musical
contribution will be greatly missed

Rubin will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his honorable service, and his music
that he shared with the world. His presence, kindness, and love will be deeply missed by all who
knew him.

A private Memorial Family Gathering will be held for Duby at Zapata Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 26, 2025 beginning at 2:00 pm at IDOL Beer Works,
100 S. Sacramento St. in Lodi, Ca.
