Margarita Garza Wergin Obituary

Margarita (Mague) Garza Wergin

May 9, 1958 - February 14, 2022

Resident of Stockton, CA

On Monday, February 14, 2022 in Stockton, Margarita (Mague) Garza Wergin (age 63), earned  her wings surrounded by loved ones.

Margarita (Mague) was born on May 9, 1958 in Lorain, Ohio. Her parents were Higinio † and  Aucencia † Garza. She was the seventh of ten children. In 1962, the family relocated to  California where the family found their forever home in San José.

In 1976 Margarita graduated from William C. Overfelt High School. She began working for  Pacific Bell Telephone Company full time but decided to go part time so she could pursue a  higher education. Margarita worked as many jobs in addition to the phone company to not only  support herself but to also put herself through college, one of the last positions she took was her  college dorms resident advisor. She graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish Literature  from UC Santa Cruz in 1988. Margarita lived in Tracy, California for a short time before moving  to Denver, Colorado for a couple of years before returning to Santa Cruz, California. Always a  go getter Margarita would also clean houses for extra spending money.

She was a passionate cat lover for most of her life until she was introduced to her precious puppy  Bianca by family and friends. After leaving the phone company, Margarita began working for  the County of Santa Clara Child Support Office in as a Child Support Officer in the Welfare Unit  part of the Accounting Department. She would ensure that case information was accurate so  families would get the support they were entitled to. Margarita’s ability to speak both English  and Spanish became invaluable to her professionally.

Margarita was a free spirit and always had her camera with her capturing every enjoyable  moment possible. Margarita was a very talented artisan, she could turn a piece of “junk” into a  masterpiece. She would often gift her friends and family with beautifully handcrafted jewelry,  mosaics, pottery, quilts, and more. Margarita would be the first to volunteer to create decorations  for the different family events.

In August 2012, Margarita married the love of her life Carl Wergin. Together Margarita and  Carl, after retiring decided to move to Arizona. Both Margarita and Carl shared their love for  crafting, sharing a craft room in which she would work on her different art pieces and Carl would  work on his wood work. As an avid SF Giants Fan the move to Arizona was beneficial as it made  it possible for Margarita to attend as many spring training games as possible. While living in  Arizona, the couple adopted their furry baby Chico. Recently Margarita and Carl decided to  move back to California to be closer to family, landing them in Stockton.

On Monday, February 14, 2022 Margarita got her forever angle wings. She is survived by her  loving husband Carl. She was a loving stepmother to Cat (Carl) Schweikert, Charles (Jack) Pritt,  Carl (Charlotte) Wergin; and a loving step-grandmother to George Schweikert.
